Dinner starts off with a free plate of fried appetizers as well as free bad jokes from the owner, whether you like it or not, so be prepared. Then you will be directed to the salad bar, a depressing cesspool of wilted lettuce and canned green beans which must be avoided at all costs! I repeat: Avoid! Avoid! Avoid that salad bar because your life depends upon it! Now for the actual dinner... if you are looking for rea$onable portion$, this is the wrong restaurant for you (hint: the price is NOT right). Rest assured that your tiny meal will arrive on a tiny cold tin plate, appropriately shaped like a fish, and absolutely smothered in jarred garlic (of the Spice World variety). As you exhale noxious garlic fumes, you may take a moment to observe the clientele around you. The night I dined at the New England Moorings, the Nautical edition of Dungeons and Dragons was also in attendance, complete with Captain Ruffle of the Blackshirt and his one-toothed first matey. Now for dessert. Here is another helpful hint. Even if you say NO to dessert, they will send it your way. This brings me to another point... It seems that this restaurant has a severe shortage of silverware. Our waitress brought us their only dessert: a plate of "Irish Cannoli." This dessert consists of 4 deep fried cannoli-type thingies filled with brown sugar and topped with a giant pile of messy whipped cream and chocolate syrup. When we asked for forks to eat it with, the waitress replied "It's finger food, eat it with your fingers!" and promptly walked away without giving us forks. My parting advice for anyone daring to enter this establishment is this: 1.) Be sure to have on hand a large supply of breath mints and maalox. 2.) Bring your own silverware. 3.) Wear your best corset, helmsman shirt, breeches, or eye patch. 4.) Pay your bill in doublouns, because a meal at this restaurant is not worth paying real money for!!

Great little restaurant located off the main street. $10.00 for a Fried Shrimp dinner which included salad, appetizer, main course, desert and a complimentary brandy. Owner and staff were most courteous and responsive. Going back with a big crowd of friends.

If you are looking for old school Florida you will find it here. Your choice of almost any deep fried water beast. The breading is good, the oil is fresh & the beer is cold.

Went because of great reviews on another website, but sorry we did. The decor is unique and kind of cute, but that is where it ends. The salad bar is some wilted lettuce and a couple of other items. The side vegetables tasted like out of a bag. The entrees were OK, thats it. The place needs a good cleaning. Pretty bad when you have to get your own unwrapped utensils out of a wicker basket. I wish I had checked with the Lee County inspection department before we went there, do yourself a favor and look them up.

Good food. Amber was a great waitress... Too bad Al would not leave her alone and let her do her job... He kept interrupting her... Al frustrated me with this....

Went here because we had a groupon for it. The place was freezing!!!! We received free appetizers from the owner which were cold, the shrimp scampi was bland, our waitress took forever to cash us out. All in all not a good experience.

Aw some place for the kids a bit kitchiee but awesome for the kids and parents to relax. Al is nothing but accommodating. Loves the kids, kids love going there he even has a little treasure chest for them to pick something out of. Kids feel comfortable to go to the patio and throw a few hoops. The food is great the portions are great if not overwhelming. Fried calamari and fried green tomato's are huge portions. Where can you go with a party of 5 and leave with a bill under 50.00!

Well if you need a break from everyday type eatery & wish a little oddball fun...come here. This is the old style kitschy Florida vibe restaurant. Fun for kids, parents . One and all. This Moorings is hidden from view off a main drag in The Cape. It was surprising to me as it was only a 10 minute ride from my house. I was pointed and lured here by a gift certificate. Remember I am a frugal diner.. Enough chit chat we are here for the food. As most seafood places are a bit high in prices this is no exception. BUT. They made up by dropping off samples of various things. From fish to dessert with a amaretto drink. It was WONDERFUL.. I was hungry so I got the Onion ring appetizer. Hand cut, breaded and fried so tasty. I then went out of my comfort zone and order Scrod with a mango Salsa. I had no idea what scrod was but it was good. Fried and golden brown on outside moist & delicate on the inside. The salsa was tangy and sweet.. I do not like mango per se. This was good.. Now more chit chat. The TV's were playing video from music shows 20+ years gone by. The table were such that when its crowded you will be sharing them with strangers. The decorations were Floridian tacky and fun of by gone days. Over all a great experience with food and frolic.

A little strange but great local joint. Good fried and sautéed seafood. We had scallops, shrimp, fish, Buffalo style shrimp, alligator (!!) and it was all good. Management was super friendly at this super casual, family friendly place. They treated my 19 month old daughter and us wonderful. She also enjoyed her fish, eating a hearty meal.

Very informal restaurant with friendly owner and staff. Great for kids who can play basketball near the outdoor patio. We always dine al fresco here and only order the daily fresh fish. They will prepare the fish any way you choose. I had the salmon and my wife had the scrod, both grilled. They were a nice size portion, reasonably priced and delicious. The vegetables were good, sauteed with garlic. The rice was so so. They also feature nice grilled shrimp. Most other items are deep fried which we don't order. You will receive many freebies from the generous owner.

Currently just moved to the Cape and went in Moorings or the first time one night with my dad to throw a few back. Right when we walked in the door we were greeted and handed samples of the fish and some other sample foods, which were absolutely excellent. This place has a GREAT atmosphere and great people here. Don't be steered away by the other bad reviews for The owner is a stand up guy, and his workers are very friendly. Service was great and a had a great time. More people need to head to this place for it would be an awesome hangout spot.

I am surprised that the board of health has not shut them down yet!!! So dirty I will never go back again. The salad bar looked to be several days old and the place was so dirty it even had a foul smell when we walked in. The decor is tacky and I mean that in both ways. Tacky as in very childish for a restaurant that sells alcohol, and also because the junk displayed around the place and all over the walls is filled with grease and smoke an years of just hanging there not being cleaned. The food was unappealing to us when we saw all the dirt so we paid our bill and left, planning to NEVER return. They need a serious makeover and might want to call upon Robert Irving as their next project. FILTHY PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does not even rate the 1 star!!!

Very bad. We had to eat outside due to the bad food stench in the restaurant. Decor is tacky. The menus were to yellowed and sticky, I used a napkin to touch it with. The food is ALL deep fried and breaded garbage, even though it doesn't say that on the menu descriptions. After 5 bites, I had a headache from all the grease. It took balls for them to call the thing they have a "salad bar". It was comical it was so gross! Service took forever for anything we asked for. I think the girl was cooking, and serving all by herself. Even she was telling us to change our orders because they had so many complaints about many of the dishes. By far, the worst restaurant I have ever been to. H.C.'s review is right on the button too!!!
